Bunna Mamas · Every stage. One table.

Welcome to the table.

A community for Habesha moms at every stage.

Gathered the way our mothers gathered: around the bunna.

Our mission

Bunna Mamas is a global community supporting Habesha mamas at every stage, through connection, career, health and leadership.

Abol · The first cup

Our story.

Bunna Mamas is a community for Habesha moms at every stage: expecting, brand new, at home, building a business, or raising teenagers who roll their eyes in two languages.

Back home, no mother raised a child alone. There was always an aunt at the door, a neighbor stopping by for bunna, a grandmother who simply knew what to do. Here, so many of us are raising our children without the village we grew up with.

So we’re rebuilding it, one cup at a time.

The rekebot

Every stage has a seat.

Every cup on the tray is a season of motherhood. Choose a cup to see how we show up for you there.

  • New-mama support circles
  • Mamas who’ve been there
  • A safe space for the hard days

Tona · The second cup

Our circles.

Once a month, we gather around the jebena. Babies on laps, toddlers underfoot, phones face down. Here’s how a circle unfolds.

  1. The ceremony

Beans are washed and roasted, and the pan goes around so everyone can take in the smoke. The jebena comes to a boil, and we pour the rounds slowly.

  2. The food

Kolo, dabo, popcorn, and whatever someone’s mama insisted on sending. Nobody leaves hungry.

  3. The conversation

Sleep, in-laws, daycare, identity, ambition. Honest talk across every stage, with no judgment and no performing.

  4. Kids welcome

Little ones are always part of the table.

    Get matched

We match you thoughtfully with a mentor who fits your season and your aspirations.

  3. Bereka · Third round

    Meet monthly

Sit down together once a month, over coffee or online, and grow from there.

Bereka · The third cup, the blessing

Meet the founder.

I’m Sara: an operations leader, a mama, and a community builder in Washington, DC.

I’ve always been deeply passionate about supporting moms, empowering women, and creating community. It’s a mission that guides everything I build, and it’s why I’m building Bunna Mamas: a global community for Habesha mamas, wherever they are raising their children. I don’t have it all figured out. I just know motherhood is better with a seat at the table.

— Sara, founder of Bunna Mamas
